The Industry Village in Motta is 27 hectares large,
were freed from third party and transferred to investors. The
village has been fully occupied and there are 37 companies that have entered
the industry village
and are at different stages
of completion with only 5.4% currently operational. Out of the manufacturing
companies registered in the village, 40% are in the agro-processing sector, while the rest are focused in other
manufacturing sectors such as textile,
leather, construction material, chemicals, etc. details of these companies such
as types of investment and their status is provided in the annex.
There is also a rural transformation center (RTC) located in Motta town
that was established as part of the
Integrated Agro-Industry Park. The RTC is around 10 hectares and It is to be recalled that the RTCs are anticipated to serve as aggregation, storage
and primary processing centers to feed into the parks. But there are also discussions to transform the RTCs in to mini-
parks. Currently, the construction of the Motta RTC has been finalized
but there are no investors that have
entered the RTC yet.
The Motta Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) site is
located in East Gojjam zone on the eastern edge of the town of Motta (Figure
6.2), 120 km southwest of Bahir Dar,
and 266 km east of the Bure IAIP (by road via Bahir Dar). The RTC is located
in close proximity to the federal
highway no. 31 that links Dejen with
Bahir Dar.
